TOOWOOMBA'S Sizzler restaurant is already Australia's busiest, but, in less than two months, it will re-open as the country's largest.

Sizzler Toowoomba kitchen manager Melissa McLucas is looking forward to the restaurant's "sizzling" new expansion.

TOOWOOMBA'S Sizzler restaurant is already Australia's busiest, but, in less than two months, it will re-open as the country's largest.

The popular restaurant is closing this Sunday and will remain closed until November 8 for its largest renovation and its first in 10 years.

Over the next two months, the restaurant will be gutted to make way for a complete makeover which will include a larger salad bar, larger car park, new kitchen and new bathrooms.

It will re-open with a seating capacity of 300, which general manager Donna Browne says should mean smaller queues on the busier nights.

"We're known for our speedy service rather than long waits," she said.

"Once this is finished, everything will be set up for the high volumes."

Mrs Browne said that while many of the restaurant's regulars were disappointed the store would be closed for the renovations, it was worth the wait.

"A lot of our regulars are asking what they're going to do while we're closed," she said.

"But it's going to be nice to invite them to the opening and to seat them in nice, new surroundings."

Queensland marketing manager Craig Drew was in Toowoomba yesterday to make the final arrangements for the extended close.

He said there was an air of excitement ahead of the expansion.

"They're going nuts," Mr Drew said of the works planned for Sizzler Toowoomba.

"You won't recognise it."

Mr Drew said employees were being compensated during the closure.

He said even during the works, Sizzler was committed to giving back to the community with all the old furnishings to be donated to charity.

"This is a great chance to re-invest in the community," he said.
