Thai House offers preview to invited guests Posted: 24 Jul 2010 08:34 PM PDT HUNTINGTON -- Patrons of the Thai House Restaurant at Pullman Square gave rave reviews of the new eatery during a soft opening Saturday night. "The wonton soup was wonderful. We had the cashew chicken and the appetizer sample and it was all good," said Jack Eblin, who attended dinner with his wife, Judy, and friends Tom and Mary Plyde Bell. "We will definitely be back." The small, family-run restaurant gave a few invited guests a sneak preview of what to expect out of one of Huntington's newest restaurants. "We invited some people to help us figure out our equipment and see how the restaurant will flow," said Patra Kamtui, who co-owns the restaurant with her mother, Patrawadee Hoon, who was front and center in the restaurant's kitchen. "We're getting really good feedback and support from people in the community. This was a night to figure out the kinks before our grand opening because we want to impress the people of Huntington." Kamtui said the popular dishes of the evening included the appetizer sampler, the Pad Thai and the steak dish called "Tiger Tear." "These appear to be the big hits of the night," she said. The restaurant will celebrate its grand opening on Monday, July 26. Regular business hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 4 to 9 p.m. for dinner. On Saturdays, the restaurant will only be open for dinner hours. "They use all-natural, fresh ingredients," Tom Bell said. "Jamie Oliver would love them here." Judy Eblin said the area should embrace the unknown and venture out to the new establishment. "We don't really know Thai food in Huntington, but this was not spicy. It was just a nice meal," she said. Five Filters featured article: Headshot - Propaganda, State Religion and the Attack On the Gaza Peace Flotilla.
