Restaurant gives wounded police officer lifetime gift certificate Posted: 17 Jul 2010 08:47 PM PDT St. Louis (KSDK) -- At the Lafayette Square restaurant known as Lafayette Fire Company, Saturday wounded Rock Hill police officer Matt Crosby received proceeds from a June 27 fund-raiser in his honor. That much he was expecting. Crosby also received a restaurant gift certificate good for one meal, once a month for him and members of his family. But unlike most gift certificates you might be carrying around in your wallet or purse, this one has no expiration date. "I'm not exactly sure how long it is, but my understanding is that it is forever," said John Wesley. The Rock Hill Fire Department lieutenant organized the June 27 motorcycle poker run which raised 4300 dollars. Wesley said, "That's a really nice gesture to come down here with the family have a meal once a month." Crosby was partially paralyzed April 8 when he was shot while responding to a domestic dispute. Bill Vandyke is restaurant general manager. "Being obviously owned by 27 St. Louis-area first responders, we're familiar with what the community likes and needs," said Vandyke. "We wanted to get on board and lend our support." KSDKFive Filters featured article: Headshot - Propaganda, State Religion and the Attack On the Gaza Peace Flotilla.
