“Between job and dignity” |
Posted: 16 Jul 2010 04:49 PM PDT My nephew and his bride were on their honeymoon in Chenai, India. One sweltering afternoon, they walked into a nice restaurant with air conditioning for lunch. Though the place was packed, the couple was able to find a table for two somewhere in the centre of the dining hall. One of the waiters took their order, returned with their drinks and left, saying that they had to wait a while for their food because of the crowd. After a rather long wait, they saw a waiter walking towards their table with a tray full of dishes. As he was making his way between the tables, his sarong came loose and started slipping. He was helpless and panicky. He had two options: drop the tray and pull up his sarong (and probably lose his job), or save the food and drop his sarong. He decided food was more important than dignity. Quietly, as his sarong came undone, he put the tray on the young couple's table. After that he picked up his sarong (he wasn't wearing anything underneath) and dashed into the kitchen as the whole place burst into laughter. A.
