NORFOLK – More and more restaurants are using locally-grown seasonal fruits and veggies in their dishes.

Nine restaurants in Hampton Roads are taking part this week in Farm-to-Feast week, an event by the local chapter of "Buy Fresh, Buy Local."

"It's an introduction for people who don't really know what this is all about, an opportunity to sample and maybe start thinking about how they're eating and where their food is coming from," explains event spokeswoman Tanya Banks.

Participating restaurants are featuring a $20 or $30 three-course menu created especially to showcase the best our local farms have to offer.

At Todd Jurich's Bistro, diners enjoy pumpkin and crab soup, made with local pumpkins, and jumbo lump crab meat that comes right from the Chesapeake Bay.

"It's really good, nice to give value to our customers and just use the best local ingredients," said Chef Todd Jurich.

Farm-to-Feast week runs through November 7.
