Gentleman`s Club Controversy

Where Naughty Makes Nice.

It`s a slogan That longtime residents here in Ward County would have never even thought of when talking about the SpeedWay Restaurant.

But now owners of the Northern Gentleman`s Club in Fargo want to bring their business to the vacant restaurant.

"You would never think that beautiful North Dakota would get a strip club," says Gayle Martin, Burlington Resident.

It`s something Gayle Martin does not want to see in her neighborhood. She lives directly across the highway from what could be the next topless bar in Ward County.

"It`s very disturbing," says Martin.

Traffic issues and the safety of children who live in the neighborhood are just a few reasons why Martin says that a place like that just doesn`t belong.

"I don`t think anybody`s going to argue that a little kid getting off the school bus should be bumping into someone heading to the bar. There`s a school bus stop right next to this place," says says Martin.

Not just a school bus stop but businesses and homes are just feet away from the front door.

"Research shows that the property value of all of our places could drop 30% that`s alot," says Martin.

"I have no doubt if not for the oil boom that this would even be a consideration," says Osteroos.

Odd Osteroos and his family can see the Speedway Restaurant from their home and says that this area just wasn`t built for a high volume of traffic that the Gentleman`s Club could bring.

"I think we have a real safety concern here," says Osteroos.
